Still filming the MTV show's fourth season in Italy, Nicole "Snooki " Polizzi crashed her vehicle into a police car Monday and was subsequently taken into custody, reports TMZ.com.

Sources say "zero alcohol" was involved in the crash. One witness says the accident ended up with the vehicle Snooki was driving wedged between a police car and a highway protection wall. After the accident, Snooki's castmate Deena Nicole Cortese, who was riding in the passenger seat, allegedly had to exit the car via its window, because of the positioning of the vehicles.

Despite being taken into custody, a production source told TMZ.com that this was not a formal arrest.
