Celebrities In High Shoplifting Incidents
Below is the list of famous actresses, beauty queens, socialites, and other celebrities are accused of shoplifting in stores.
1. Peaches Geldof
Peaches was accused of shoplifting make up in Boots in Central London. She is now banned to enter the store again. She also has been accused of taking a £70 dress from a shop in Camden. This is the fourth shoplifting incident she’s been in.
2. Lindsay Lohan
Everyone knows about Lindsay Lohan and her wandering fingers when it comes to stealing jewelery. Last January, controversial actress was accused of stealing a $2,500 worth of necklace in a high end store. She was sentenced with 120 days of house arrest and community for the said incident.
3. Farrah Fawcet
“Charlie’s Angels” darling Farrah Fawcet was also accused of shoplifting. As a matter of fact, she was convicted for it twice in the 70s. She was accused of taking clothes in a store. Fawcet said that she was just exchanging clothes without the approval of the store manager. She was fined with several hundreds of dollars for both incidents.
4. Claude Allen
Men also made it on the list.Former advisor of President George Bush, Claude Allen, was accused of stealing $5,000 worth of items from Target. At first, he denied the allegations; however, he pleaded guilty for the incident and was served with two years of probation and 40 hours of community service and a fine of $500. He was also ordered to pay Target $850.
5. Olga Korbut
Three times Olympic-gold medalist Olga Korbut made it on the news by allegedly stealing $19.35 worth of food items in a grocery store in Atlanta. She avoided jailtime and probation by paying a small sum of money in the establishment.
6. Britney Spears
Pop star Britney Spears was accused of shoplifting by allegedly stealing a blue lighter that is worth $1.39 in a gas station. However, her case is more of a publicity stunt than a criminal case, she even boasted her act to paparazzi also trying to snap photos of her. The owner of the gas station did not even bother to press charges.
7. Jennifer Capriati
The 2001 number one tennis player was caught shoplifting a ring worth $15 in a mall in Florida.
8. Bess Myerson
Former beauty queen Bess Myerson was the first Jewish Miss America. A prominent figure in her time. However, she was caught shoplifting $44.07 worth of items in a department store in Pennsylvania. Myerson pleaded guilty and paid a fine of $148.
9. Caroline Giuliani
Daughter of NYC former mayor Rudy Giuliani, Caroline, was busted with more than $150 worth of cosmetics. Her father was known to combat petty crimes like this.
10. Rex Reed
Former TV host and New York Observer columnist Rex Reed was caught shoplifting three CDs from Tower records. Reed bought two other CDs but proved not to be enough as a distraction.
11. Tila Tequila
Reality TV star Tila Tequila confessed that she stole some items from CVS store after she claimed that she lost her wallet while working all day.
12. Andrew Flintoff
Cricketer star Andrew Flintoff was questioned by the guards after he set off the alarm in an Asda store in Surrey. However, it was later found out that he did not nick anything.
13. Paul Danan
Former soap opera star Paul Danan walked out of a store with a £3 worth of snacks. The actor paid £80 because of the incident.
14. Beata Boman
Fashion designer and socialite Beata Boman was arrested by the Greenwich police as she allegedly stuffed a $11,050 fur-lined Loro Piana scarf.
15. Lynn Anderson
Country singer Lynn Anderson allegedly stole a “Harry Potter” DVD from Taos and punched a police officer after she was being put in a patrol car.
16. Shannon Marketic
Another former beauty queen was accused of shoplifting. Former Miss USA Shannon Marketic was accused of stealing $90 worth of beauty products from a Target department store.
17. Bai Ling
“Lost” actress Bai Ling was accused of misdemeanor shoplifting after picking up two celebrity magazine and two packets of batteries worth $16 at the Los Angeles International Airport.
18. Adam Rickitt
Adam tried to walk out of the supermarket in Auckland, New Zealand with a block of cheese, bottle of HP sauce and a jar of coffee.
19. Cheeky Girl Gabriela
Cheeky Girl Gabriela stole £40 in groceries from a Sainsbury's store. Unsurprisingly the police didn't accept her excuse that it was "research for a gangster movie".
